Governance and Infrastructure Workshop

Voice4Change England recently held a free online Governance and Infrastructure Workshop, in partnership with NCVO and with support from the National Lottery Community Fund and Barrow Cadbury Trust. The workshop was focussed on characteristics of a successful and sustainable organisation and on governance and infrastructure within charity and voluntary organisations.

Key topics:

• Forming a charity

• Various legal structures that non-profits can form

• The relationship and role of Charity Commission

• Responsibilities of charity trustees and the importance of monitoring and evaluation.

The workshop was led by Dan Francis, Lead Governance Consultant at NCVO. Dan leads NCVO’s governance work, managing a team of consultants to deliver practical support to charity boards. Dan’s consulting focuses on governance reviews, board performance and trustee training, he works with a range of charities from small community organisation to household name national and international organisations. Dan has been a member of the Charity Governance Code steering group since 2016 and has worked with colleagues across the sector to shape the latest edition of the code.
